WHO WE ARE

We have recently rebranded our company into a single entity called Puget Sound Hospitality and we are one of the largest and fastest growing locally owned and managed hospitality companies within the Puget Sound Region. We are known for operating properties that are well maintained and above corporate standards, providing unmatched experience, expertise and capacity to meet clients’ needs by offering five nationally branded hotels including Marriott, Starwood and Hilton. Over the next five years we will be expanding our portfolio to include additional national brands as well as corporate housing.

MEET OUR TEAM

Paul Pong
President

As the President of the Pong-family hotel operation, Paul’s extensive background in project planning, coordination and operations makes him the right leader to guide our company through the next growth and development stages. A graduate of the University of Washington with a BS in electrical engineering, Paul is well respected within the Seattle community. He is active in many organizations including the Asian American Hotel & Motel Association. Paul is also fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Rick Tupper
VP of Operations

Rick has extensive experience in all facets of hotel operations. He has spent over 30+ years in the hospitality industry including 33 years with Marriott Hotels, 25 of those years as a hotel executive. His passion is delivering exceptional service to the customer through the development of management. Rick is honored to be the recipient of the JW Marriott Award of Excellence, the highest honor awarded by the Marriott Corporation to employees that embody the company’s core values; recipients are nominated by their peers and supervisors for their outstanding performance. Rick graduated from Washington State University.

Julie Mackey
Regional Direction of Sales

Julie is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a BS in communications. A senior hospitality executive with more than 28 years of experience, Julie has extensive knowledge in sales & account management as well as operations. Prior to joining the company, Julie had acquired extensive hospitality experience in roles such as General Manager and Director of Sales & Marketing within various brands, including Hilton, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites and Destination Hotels. She also has 11 years of experience within Marriott International, working in various sales leadership roles.

OUR ORIGINS

Puget Sound Hospitality is a privately held, hotel operation company owned and run by the Pong family. The majority of its investments are here in the United States, in addition to real estate holdings in Taiwan. The Pong family acquired their first hotel, a Travelodge in Tacoma, WA, in May of 1978. One year later, they purchased their second property in Puyallup, WA, which began the Pong family’s practice of building and developing their own properties.  From 1981–1999, they opened twelve additional properties in the Seattle area, which include the following brands: Ramada Inn, Days Inn, Travelodge, Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Hawthorn Suites and Comfort Suites. In 2005, they opened their first Marriott-managed property, the Marriott Courtyard in Bellevue Downtown. With over 400 associates, the Pong family is looking to grow their organization at the pace of approximately six projects over the next five years.
